How long does it take to get an account?

Your account will be opened as soon as we receive all of the necessary application documents. In order to open your new account, simply go to the Open Account page, fill out and submit the form to us. We will call with any follow-up questions, and we will then email your application documents. If you have questions before you hear from us, please call.

I only have a small number of properties, can I still use CreditLink® Corporation for my tenant screening?

Absolutely! CreditLink® Corporation has no minimum requirement for screenings performed. You can use our services if you are a large corporation, or a small sole proprietor, or something inbetween.

What is my 'principal place of business'?

The site inspection will be performed at your 'principal place of business.' This is the place where the records and files pertaining to your rentals are kept. In some cases this is an office building; in some case, this is a home office. If you have a home office, please use your home address as your principal place of business.

What is a business vendor?

A business vendor is someone who has provided services to your business. There are four types of business vendors we can accept: a credit card vendor that has provided you with an account, a bank that has provided a loan for business purposes, a landline phone company that serves your business address, or a utility (such as the power or water company), that serves your business address.

Will CreditLink® sell my information to other companies?

Absolutely not! The information required for the application process is kept private and confidential, and will never be sold or used for anything other than the application process. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy

What is a Letter of Intent?

The Letter of Intent simply states the purpose you have for requesting reports, how many screenings you plan on doing, and where you anticipate your access will be. The example letter we have provided in the Client Application Package can be copied and filled in with the appropriate information on company letterhead. If you do not have letterhead, a letter on plain paper will do as long as your business name and address are at the top of it.

Why do I have to have a site inspection?

Federal regulations require site inspections in order to be eligible to purchase these reports. Only credentialed clients can purchase consumer credit reports from credentialed agencies. We are required to perform a site inspection on all of our clients. The purpose is to ensure that the sensitive information you will obtain is for legitimate purposes and is properly safeguarded.

Will the inspector be looking at my rental property?

No. The Site Inspection process has nothing to do with your rental property, and everything to do with the safety and security of the reports that you obtain.

What is the inspector looking for?

The inspector is looking to see that your records are stored in a safe location with adequate security. They will also check to see that you have an appropriate way of disposing of records, such as a shredder. Essentially they want to make sure that the reports you receive can only be accessed by you, or someone authorized by you.

How long does the inspection take?

The inspection process itself takes on average 15-20 minutes. The inspector will ask a few questions, take a few photos of your office - signage and brochures (if any), interior workspace, document storage, and document disposa - and have you sign something saying you were there. Once the process is complete, they will submit the results back to us for processing.

Do I have to do be credentialed every year?

No. We may contact you periodically as we conduct required audits of accounts, but that's it. Currently, the only time you will be required to have another site inspection performed will be if you move your principal place of business.
